Application: Disaster Communication System (DCS)
Developer: DumanTech

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy outlines how the Disaster Communication System (“DCS”, “we”, “our”, or “the application”) handles user data and permissions. DCS is a mobile application that facilitates offline communication between nearby devices using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct, without relying on internet or cellular networks.

We take user privacy seriously and strive to keep the app secure, minimal, and transparent in data handling. This policy complies with Google Play Developer Policies and relevant data protection regulations.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Personal identifiers (name, email address, phone number, etc.)

  • Account credentials or login information

  • Contacts, calendar, photos, or browsing history

  • Location history or GPS coordinates

  • Network activity or mobile data

There are no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no data transmission to any remote server — the app operates entirely offline.

3. Information We Access (Temporarily)

To provide its core functionality (offline messaging), DCS temporarily accesses:

  • Nearby device information: Includes device names, MAC addresses, and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi capabilities. These are used solely to establish peer-to-peer connections and are not stored beyond the session.

  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct connection status: Used to establish and maintain data transmission links between devices.

This data is not stored permanently, not transmitted externally, and is cleared when the app is closed or restarted.

4. Permissions Requested

DCS may request the following permissions:

4.1 Location Permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION)

Required by Android OS to scan for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct devices.
We do not collect or use your actual geographic location in any form.
This permission is technical, not functional from a tracking perspective.

4.2 Bluetooth & Wi-Fi Access (BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN, NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES)

These permissions allow the app to:

  • Discover nearby devices

  • Establish direct peer-to-peer links

  • Transfer encrypted messages

No background scanning or passive data collection occurs.

4.3 Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE)

Used to ensure uninterrupted communication when the app is running, especially during long-range message transfer or listening modes.

4.4 Storage or Microphone Access (Optional)

If the user chooses to send voice messages, temporary audio files are stored only on the user’s device.
These files are neither uploaded nor accessed by the developer.

5. Data Storage & Security

All communication is peer-to-peer, meaning it occurs directly between devices without using any centralized servers.

We implement the following principles:

  • No cloud syncing or backups

  • No internet dependency

  • No third-party involvement

  • Temporary session-based message history, stored only on-device

Optional encryption (future version) may be implemented for enhanced security.

6. Children's Privacy

DCS is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect or store data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or app functionality.
Users will be notified via the Play Store listing or changelog if substantial updates are made.
